CN Shops and Lands

This complex comprises 3.5 million square feet adjoining the north end of the Technoparc. In 2005, these facilities – used for railway activities for 150 years – were transferred by CN to a consortium which pledged to decontaminate the land. The consortium announced that it will set aside 1 million square feet for residential construction and build a shopping centre on the remaining 2.5 million square feet. Meanwhile, with the collaboration of the borough, local organizations, including RESO, defined development guidelines that encourage affordable and community housing, and the reuse of the old railway shops to attract job-creating businesses.
